We typically hold expeditions at our Bushveld bird ringing / bird banding site during the Austral summer. This site has a Savanna climate, with most of its rain falling during the Austral summer. It has mild to warm temperatures year-round, also with relatively low variability between summer and winter. Winters (peak in July) tend to be cooler and dry, while summers (peak in January) tend to be hot and wet.
Rain is mainly restricted to the Austral summer, so it is advisable to pack suitable rain gear as well as a good hat and sunscreen.
Our Bushveld accommodation comes equipped with air conditioning and mosquito bed-nets for warmer weather.
